The development of the goals and objectives of this course are a result of a task analysis for the position of "patrol officer." Officers from municipal and county agencies throughout Oregon and the Central Oregon Reserve Training Academy participated in developing, designing and validating the course curriculum. The Department of Public Standards and Training (DPSST) basic 320-hour training course and proposed additions to the basic program were used to develop this 374.5 hour course.
The Academy is intensive and will require you to be attentive to lectures, take good notes, ask questions on issues or points that you do not understand and to pass written as well as performance examinations. Your efforts will determine your success. The Academy staff have dedicated themselves to presenting meaningful and quality training to give you the basics to work in the field as a Reserve Law Enforcement Officer. Nothing less than maximum effort will be acceptable. Your community, your agency, your family and your own safety demand your full commitment.
